Staff training software that tells you who has not done it
Assign hospitality courses, track progress per person and per site, and issue a branded certificate that files itself into the staff member's HR record the moment they pass. Then chase the stragglers by name, from one screen.
14-day free trial, full-featured, no card required.
Training is easy to deliver and almost impossible to evidence
In a business with 30% annual turnover and four sites, the induction gets done. What does not get done is the record. Somebody signs a paper sheet on their first shift, the sheet goes in a drawer, and eighteen months later an officer asks who on the floor tonight has had allergen training. The honest answer is that nobody knows, and the way most operators find out is by counting backwards from the rota.
Zynthio keeps the delivery and the evidence in the same place. Staff work through courses on the phone they already clock in on, the certificate lands in their HR file automatically when they pass, and the monitoring dashboard tells you — by name, per course and per site — who is enrolled, who is not enrolled at all, and who has finished.
What that gives a manager
- Three lists per course: enrolled and unfinished, not enrolled at all, and completed
- Bulk enrolment straight from the not-enrolled list, so finding a gap and closing it is one action
- A person view with each individual's progress, assessment score and attempts
- Certificates in the HR file, downloadable by a GM from the employee's Training tab
- An optional gate that stops an untrained person being rostered — off unless you turn it on
Delivery, evidence and the chase, in one module
Courses built from video, PDF and reading
A course is a list of modules in order, plus optionally one assessment at the end, and a module is a video, a PDF or a page of reading. Each module can carry an estimated duration, which the course overview adds up into a total — or shows as self-paced when nothing is estimated. Courses can be global, written by Zynthio and available to every organisation, or scoped to yours alone. The library covers the standard hospitality induction ground: health and safety induction, manual handling, fire safety awareness, working safely with cleaning chemicals, allergen awareness and management, and the two-hour Scottish alcohol course among them.
Four ways to get a course in front of somebody
Assign named individuals. Let staff self-enrol on any published course from My Courses, which anybody can do without asking. Assign to everyone, which picks up every active member of staff and deliberately excludes administrative accounts. Or assign by position — worth knowing that this matches on shifts worked in the last 90 days rather than the job title on file, so a person who has not been rostered recently will not be caught by it. Whichever route you use, assignment is additive and idempotent: re-running it never removes anybody and never creates a duplicate enrolment.
Assessments, pass marks and a genuine minimum sitting
Courses that carry an assessment pass at 80%, with unlimited attempts and no cooldown — the point is that people learn the material, not that they are punished for a first attempt. Where a course has a minimum sitting time, such as the two hours Scottish licensing expects, the clock runs on our server from the moment the learner first opens the player, and the assessment will not open until it has elapsed. The questions are not even sent to the browser before then, so there is nothing in the page to work around.
Certificates that file themselves
Passing issues a single-page landscape PDF carrying your organisation's logo and brand colour, the learner's name, the course title, the completion date and a certificate ID. It goes two places at once: into the learner's own view under My Courses, and into their HR documents automatically as a certificate — which is the part that makes it permanent rather than an attachment somebody had to remember to file. Certificates are regenerated live on every download, so a rebrand carries backwards. Managers at general-manager tier and above can pull a team member's certificate from the Training tab of their HR profile. Being straight with you: a certificate records the date it was earned and nothing about when it stops being valid, because renewal periods are not built.
The monitoring dashboard, and a chase you can audit
Course Monitoring answers the question managers actually ask, which is not "how is the course going" but "who has not done it". Open a course and it splits your people into enrolled-and-unfinished, not enrolled at all, and completed — three explicit lists, with the not-enrolled one selectable so you can bulk-enrol from it. An employees view turns the same data round to show progress person by person, and clicking a row opens that individual's training card. Chasing is deliberately transparent: nothing sends until a confirmation panel has listed every recipient by name and what each is outstanding on, the receipt names them again, and it states plainly that these are in-app and push notifications rather than emails. A history tab keeps every past chase auditable. Filter by organisation, by site or by course, and the selection lives in the URL so a refresh or a shared link lands on the same view.
Where an accredited qualification is what you need
Zynthio's courses are our own material, and the certificate they issue says exactly that: this person completed this Zynthio course on this date. We are not an awarding body and we do not claim to be one. Some roles need a qualification from one — a Level 2 or Level 3 food safety certificate, a personal licence holder qualification — and for those the training pages carry outbound links to third-party accredited providers, who assess the learner and issue their own certificate. Those are referrals, not Zynthio courses. Keeping the two clearly apart is the point: an operator who thinks an in-house induction is an accredited qualification has a problem waiting for them.
Training joins up with the people and the paperwork
Same login, same sites, same staff list. Three modules training touches directly.
ZynHR — rotas & records
Certificates file into the HR record automatically, and you can optionally gate shift assignment on mandatory courses. That gate is off until you switch it on.
COSHH
A COSHH assessment names whether training is required and which course delivers it, and staff acknowledge that training against the substance register.
Audits
Audit templates ask what training your team has had. Having the answer on a screen instead of in a drawer is the difference between a pass and a finding.
Training is included in Professional — £149 per site, per month
Professional carries everything in the Core plan plus five more modules: ZynHR, Training, Review Management, Finance and Cash-up, with priority UK support. Unlimited users on every site, iOS and Android apps included. Annual billing gives you two months free, and ten or more sites takes 15% off automatically. See full pricing.

What is in a Zynthio course?
A course is a list of modules in order, plus optionally one assessment at the end. A module is a video, a PDF, or a page of reading, and each can carry an estimated duration which the overview page adds up - or shows as self-paced when none of them do. Courses can be global, written by Zynthio and available to every organisation, or scoped to your own. What you have on your account is what to work from: courses have been added and rewritten in batches, so check Course Management rather than a published list.
How do I get courses in front of staff?
Four routes. Assign named individuals from Course Management. Let staff self-enrol on any published course from My Courses - anybody can do that. Assign to everyone, which enrols every active member of staff and deliberately leaves out administrative accounts. Or assign by position, which matches against shifts worked in the last 90 days rather than the job title on file, so somebody who has not been rostered recently will not be picked up. Assignment is additive and idempotent, so re-running it never removes anybody and never duplicates an enrolment.
Are Zynthio's courses accredited?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Zynthio's courses are our own in-house material - the standard hospitality induction ground - and the certificate they issue is a Zynthio certificate showing the learner completed our course. Where a role genuinely needs an accredited qualification, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 food safety certificate or a personal licence holder qualification, the training pages link out to third-party accredited providers who assess and certificate you themselves. Those are outbound links, not Zynthio courses, and their certificates come from them.
How do certificates work?
Passing the assessment completes the course and issues the certificate: a single-page landscape PDF carrying your organisation's logo and brand colour, the learner's name, the course title, the completion date and a certificate ID. It is filed into the learner's HR documents automatically at the moment of completion, which is what makes it part of their permanent file rather than an email nobody kept. It is also regenerated live on every download, so if you rebrand, old certificates download on the new branding. Managers at general-manager tier and above can download a team member's certificate from the Training tab of their HR profile. One thing to know: a certificate carries the date it was earned and nothing about when it expires - there is no renewal period or refresher scheduling in the module.
Can I see who has not done their training?
Yes, that is what the Course Monitoring dashboard is for. Open a course and it splits your people into three lists: enrolled and unfinished, not enrolled at all, and completed. The not-enrolled list is selectable, so you can bulk-enrol straight from it. An employees view flips the same data round to show each person's progress, and clicking any row opens their personal training card. Chasing is deliberately transparent: nothing sends until a confirmation panel has listed every recipient by name and what each of them is outstanding on, the receipt names them again, and it says plainly that these are in-app and push notifications rather than emails. A history tab makes past chases auditable.
Can I stop untrained staff being put on a rota?
Yes, if you switch it on. You can mark courses as mandatory for your organisation and turn on the rota gate, after which shift assignment checks that a person has completed them. It is opt-in and defaults to off for every organisation, on purpose - a business that has never heard of the feature should not discover it by having a rota suddenly refuse a shift.
